Non-Government Schools Education Council
The Non-Government Schools Education Council (NGSEC) was established in accordance with section 106 of the Education Act 2004 (the Act). The Council provides an opportunity for the non-government school sector to have a role in formulating advice to Government on school education policy.
The Council's functions required by the Act are:
- to advise the Minister for Education and Training on any aspect of non-government schooling
- when asked by the Minister to inquire into and give advice to the Minister on any aspect of non-government schooling
- to meet with the Government Schools Education Council to discuss matters of mutual interest
- to exercise any other function given to the council under the Act or any other Territory law.
