Non-Government Schools Education Council

The Non-Government Schools Education Council  (NGSEC) was established in accordance with section 106 of the Education Act 2004  (the Act). The Council  provides an opportunity for the non-government school sector to have a role in  formulating advice to Government on school education policy.

The Council's functions required by the Act are:

  •  
  • to advise the Minister for  Education and Training on any aspect of non-government schooling
  •  
  • when asked by the Minister, to  inquire into and give advice to the Minister on any aspect of non-government  schooling
  •  
  • to meet with the Government  Schools Education Council (GSEC) to discuss matters of mutual interest
  •  
  • to exercise any other function  given to the council under the Act or any other Territory law.
